³ YTDLnis #
- The YTDLnis project states that it’s a full-featured downloader for Android using yt-dlp. (GitHub)
- The download page shows that the latest stable version is v1.8.5 (for Android 7.0+) as of Aug 2025. (APKPure.com)
- Its changelog also mentions that support for older Android (Android 6) had to be dropped because yt-dlp required a newer Python version. (ytdlnis.org)
- So: YTDLnis seems up-to-date (as of mid-2025) and has active development, which is good.
³ Seal #
- Seal is described as a “Video/Audio Downloader for Android, based on yt-dlp” in its GitHub repo. (GitHub)
- On F-Droid the latest listed version is 1.13.1-(F-Droid) (Build 11314) added on 20 Oct 2024. (f-droid.org)
- The F-Droid page says that version 1.13.1 requires Android 5.0 or newer. (f-droid.org)
- One Reddit user reported that their version of Seal showed they were using yt-dlp version 2024.12.13 inside the app. (Reddit)
- So: Seal is workable and open-source, but the version of yt-dlp it bundles might lag behind the “latest” upstream version.
